Angles in a quadrilateral

Updated: May 26, 2020

Right, so let's say we're given this question:

Find the angle labelled x.

Ok, so we know angles in a quadrilateral add up to 360 degrees.

We have angles of 60, 95 and 100 degrees. Now we add these together to make:

60 + 95 + 100 = 255

So all the other angles add up to 255 degrees, which means angle x must be the difference between 255 and 360 degrees. In other words:

360 - 255 = 105 degrees

So that means angle x must have a value of 105 degrees.

If you're not sure, you can check that they all add up to 360:

60 + 95 + 100 + 105 = 360 degrees

Yep, it's correct. So there's the answer!

Remember that a quadrilateral is a shape with 4 sides, and angles in other shapes add up to different numbers (e.g. 180 degrees for a triangle). Try our quiz to test yourself on this:
